Game Title: Emyrian Legends: Data Quest

Genre: 2D top-down Action/RPG focused on character progression, story, and dungeon exploration.

Synopsis:

In Emyrian Legends: Data Quest, you play as Data, who awakens with fragmented memories of a battle that nearly destroyed him. Finding himself in an unfamiliar place with amnesia, he soon realizes that his corrupted memory must be restored if he has any hope of returning home. Along the way, he’ll face many dangers—people who seek to capture him for his technology, those who see him as a threat and want to destroy Data, and an active plague of sentient machines called Nanoeye. With no recollection of his past allies, Data must make acquaintances and forge bonds to recover his lost memory, survive, and get back home.

Key Features:

- Collect & Craft Gear: Upgrade your arsenal, including cannons, sub-weapons, and wearable equipment.

- Build Your Playstyle: Customize your approach—whether focusing on agility-based multi-dodges or tanking heavy hits.

- Strategic Gear Swaps: Need more speed for a particular boss? Change out gear for enhanced mobility. Want extra invincibility frames? Equip Heroism Gear before heading into battle.

- Unique Weapon Options: Fancy a flamethrower? Build a fuel-based loadout to unlock this unique weapon. Want to brute force your way to victory, perhaps the drill dash build is for you. Finding and crafting the right gear will lead you to victory.

Development Status:

While much of the game is built, many elements are not yet fully connected, and graphical tweaks are needed. As such, some content will be removed in the demo. In this version, progression will be linear—you’ll play through the intro dungeon and Luntech, one of the first dungeons in Tier One. Afterward, you can explore the city of Neonia and participate in an Easter hunt to unlock a hidden secret boss atop a building in the city's west side.

Platforms & Controller Support:

Developed primarily for PC, though controller support is available. However, mouse interactions in controller mode require frequent use of R3 and L3 to click items. The plan is that the game will be playable on Steam Deck and ROG Ally, and—who knows? Maybe even Switch 2 someday! One can dream T.T

Known bugs:

You must set your desired resolution when starting the game, as it does not currently save between sessions. Each time the game is restarted, the resolution must be manually adjusted. Additionally, when opening the menu and selecting options, the resolution may drop unexpectedly. To restore it, you must first select a lower resolution before setting your preferred one again.

This menu serves only as an exit function, which can also be done using Alt + F4. Be sure to save your game beforehand.

There is a save feature for reloading from a temporary save file. It was made to try and save your progress much like an auto save. Most times, it works fine, but it can cause glitches and stat distortions. This is being looked into. Loading from an actual save file is always the better choice.

Support & Future Plans:

Regardless of feedback or support, the plan is to finish this game. The goal is to complete development within 1.5 years. Any support—whether through donations, feedback, or bug reports—is greatly appreciated.

Developer Background & Goals

This project started as a learning experience—a way to experiment with Unity, coding, sprite work, and other game development fundamentals. Initially meant as a test run, it quickly evolved into something much bigger.

Currently, the game has 12 completed dungeons (though many still need refining), and the focus now is on overworld development. Development is largely solo, except for music, which is composed by a friend who is practically doing this for free. Any donations will also help pay him what he is worth. Balancing the creative process with other responsibilities, such as a full time job, has been a challenge, but no matter what—the game will be completed.

Gameplay Philosophy:

This game is challenging, but exploration makes it easier over time. While it takes inspiration from Dark Souls' difficulty, the goal is to reward players who take the time to explore and strengthen their character. The game does not punish you for dying so no re collection of loss resources.

In the full game, players can tackle dungeons in sets of three before advancing to the next difficulty tier. By doing this, you can obtain the most power before advancing to the next tier. Some may choose to stick to a single lane and complete the story line in that direction, though this will make the game much more difficult to complete at first. The overworld will be packed with secrets that further develop Data and his abilities.

Community & Bug Reports:

Since development is an ongoing learning process, there will be bugs(Many bugs)—and that’s where feedback is essential. If any issues are encountered, please take a screenshot and report them via email:

Additionally, any feedback on gameplay, mechanics, or story elements is welcomed and appreciated.

Looking Ahead:

The focus is finishing this game, but if time and resources allow, more features will be added along the way. If certain ideas don’t make it into this release, they’ll be saved for the future—because there are plans to develop at least three games in this series!
